Band of Locals - Buy Local First - always live on SUNNY 97.3 with Steve and host Carlleen Rose with videographer Marianne Biggart Pitts. We had a full studio today! Before we get to our guests we have our Cardinal Shout Outs! Thank you to Assistant Principal of BRHS Jake Schumann for sending to us. This week's Shout Outs go to: 1) Quinn Rasmussen - for pushing though some adversity and coming out successfully (Mrs. Lipscomb), 2) Gabe Chapman - helping a student in need (Mrs. Donley), 3) Ian Boggs - willing to try anything in class (Mrs. Defeaver), 4) Caiden Schuberg - positive and hardworking (Mrs. Lipscomb), 5) Jamie Carper - hardworking and good behavior (Mrs. Aley) and 6) Lucie Muerez (exchange student) outstanding effort in AP Calc and AP Bio (Mrs. McCullen).

We also wanted to do a mention of the GFWC-Big Rapids' event happening May 12-14th at Mecosta Township Hall on 19729 11 Mile Road in Big Rapids: Another Woman's Treasures! Times for Shopping are: Thursday from 12pm-6pm, Friday from 9am-4pm and Saturday from 9am-12pm. Proceeds will be donated to local food pantries and community club projects in Big Rapids. Our First Guest was Karen Thompson and we are excited to hear about the official launch of "Faithful Fridays" this summer. This will be a series of worship events and four churches and worship/music teams will be participating. It will begin on June 3rd and also July 1st, August 5th and September 2nd. Next guest was Pastor Mark Robb and it was great hearing about him and Carlleen's introduction, their Bible Study Group (Tuesdays at 1pm at Carlleen's store) along with his work and service for Our Brothers' Keeper Shelter. Nicole Alexander was another guest in studio as well and hearing the work and service they do for the community and this nonprofit is amazing. OBK helps those in need experiencing homelessness by providing a safe, faith-based temporary shelter. They are located at 405 S 3rd Ave in Big Rapids. Phone: 231-629-8160.
